Alternative Miss World

We went last night to the Roundhouse to see Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World.
Brilliant. Such a relaxed time. The costumes were inspirational.
My friend Scarlet held up the numbers and was as beautiful as ever.

Always fascinated by the light that pours in, energising the stillness of a room, the contrast of outside and inside, dark and light, Annabel Mednick explores the drama of the quiet moment.

In between the big events of life – birth, death etc – people are living normal lives, her work is a celebration of that.

The square format and the absence of a frame add a contemporary twist to a timeless subject. In her interiors, the stones of the building have been there for centuries, while the people are transient; the light from the outside world comes in and moves around them, linking them to the past, the future and everyone else.
